About
Olusesan Michael Awoleye, Ph.D., is a Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the African Institute for Science Policy and Innovation at Obafemi Awolowo University. With a robust background in Computing and Data Science, his areas of interest include, but are not limited to, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (text mining, machine learning, and recommender systems), digitalization, digital sovereignty, and cybersecurity.
He is proficient in using Stata, WEKA, R, PHP, JavaScript, Python programming, among others. Dr. Awoleye has extensive experience in policy analysis, development, and review, having worked for over a decade until February 2013 as an Assistant Chief Research Officer with the National Centre for Technology Management, a policy-oriented research agency of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
He holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management and has significantly contributed to the Science, Technology, and Innovation policy ecosystem in Nigeria and beyond. Additionally, he serves as a Senior Research Associate at the DST/NRF Research Chair on Newton Fund Trilateral Research Chair in Transformative Innovation, the 4th Industrial Revolution, and Sustainable Development at the School of Business and Economics, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
He is a member of the Nigeria Computer Society, the British Computer Society, West African Research and Innovation, Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis, as well as GLOBELICS and AFRICALICS.
