Land Preparation and Treatment

Land preparation involves readying the soil for planting to ensure optimal crop growth. This process includes clearing debris, ploughing to turn and loosen the soil, and harrowing to break up clumps and create a fine soil texture. Adding organic matter such as biochar or fertilisers enhances soil fertility.

Levelling the land ensures even water distribution, and creating beds or furrows improves planting efficiency. Proper land preparation sets the foundation for healthy plant development and high yields. This is what Drs Akinwale, Atere and Awoleye and the project students were actively engaging in here.
